With entries to America’s Cup (commencing in Auckland, in 2021) closing in mid-June, we thought it was a great time to announce some exciting news about the legendary Kiwi yachtsman, Graeme Kendall!
Kendall’s non-fiction book, To the Ice and Beyond, hit New Zealand’s national news in 2016, after becoming the first Kiwi yachtsman to circumnavigate via the Northwest Passage solo. Now Kendall’s achievements are in the process of becoming a Guinness World Record for being the first and fastest to complete the Northwest Passage solo, non-stop in 12 days.
Along with the exciting news of the Guinness World Records, To the Ice and Beyond, is set for its third reprint since being published two years ago. With thousands of copies of Kendall’s non-fiction adventure book sold nationwide and many five-star reviews, it is quickly becoming known and loved as a maritime classic, and acclaimed as an extreme odyssey by many.
“When I first heard of Graeme’s novel I thought, oh no, not another sailing book. I didn’t have much knowledge or interest in learning about sailing. However after reading ‘To The Ice And Beyond’, I’d learnt so much,” explains one reader.
“The detailed and clear explanation of what something was, or why Graeme was choosing that particular device or route really opened my eyes. Once I got into it, I couldn’t put the book down.”
To the Ice and Beyond, unravels Kendall’s 193-day solo circumnavigation of the globe while also accomplishing his boyhood dream of sailing through Arctic Northwest Passage solo in his sixties. The book opens up discussion for climate change and pollution, while also taking readers on an enthralling adventure and inspires them to never give up your dreams.
“A wonderful education in what it takes to be a truly successful sailor and how to achieve a goal with passion and perseverance, To the Ice and Beyond is an absorbing read buoyed by Kendall’s infectious spirit of adventure and shrewd approach to life. In turns philosophical, instructional and inspirational, this book is a fantastic read for dreamers and doers alike.” Says reviewers from Mary Egan Publishers
To the Ice and Beyond will soon be released internationally, is now available in paperback and can be found in most good bookstores nationwide.
